Webster Blog – Larry Webster is most famed for developing the Webster Technique, allowing the mothers body to adapt to the correct position for the birth of a healthy baby, often helping the baby to position itself appropriately.
“The Webster technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation and or SI joint dysfunction. In so doing neuro-bio-mechanical function in the pelvis is improved.” He was an instructor at Life University and practiced on Ponce de Leon in Atlanta. His practice was two blocks west of the old Krispy Kreme at Ponce and Argonne. He is also highly regarded as the founding force for Pediatric Chiropractic care and known as the “Grandfather of Chiropractic”. Dr. Webster died in Atlanta in 1997 and was survived by his wife and two daughters. Dr. Webster recognized that the problem of breech babies, when treated in medical facilities, often uses drastic measures by twisting the stomach of the mother to forcefully move the fetus. The Webster Technique was “born” when he noticed that mothers benefited from certain careful and gentle adjustments of the spine and pelvic regions and babies turned naturally to the head first birth position. There has been a 75-95% reported success rate of the baby turning to the normal vertex position when care is provided prior to the 7th month, which is pretty remarkable. He innovated a specific protocol for turning the baby naturally and gently. Dr. Larry Webster was loved by many and his legacy to chiropractic lives on through chiropractors trained in his Webster Technique.
